Car prices in the United States will rise by $10,000 if Trump imposes tariffs

According to Tereso Medina Ramírez, general secretary of the Federation of Southeast Workers of Coahuila, imposing tariffs on automobiles manufactured in regions like Ramos Arizpe would result in a price increase of over $10,000.
“If Donald Trump’s threat of tariffs becomes effective, it will be the American consumer who will pay 25 percent in tariffs and the price of automobiles will increase by 10,000 dollars,” stated the union leader, who represents more than 350,000 workers in the automotive industry in Mexico.
General Motors and Stellantis are an industrial icon in Saltillo, as they move the entire economy and generate thousands of jobs with the annual production of 525,600 vehicles.
Approximately 80 percent of the vehicles produced in Ramos Arizpe (420,480 units) are exported to the United States.
Of every 10 vehicles that circulate on Mexican roads, 4 were built and assembled in the Ramos Arizpe region, he said.
