OpenAI enlists Google as a cloud partner due to rising demand for computing capacity

According to a revised list on the website of the ChatGPT vendor, OpenAI has added Alphabet’s Google Cloud to its list of suppliers in order to satisfy the increasing demand for computing capacity.
The AI giant also depends on services from Microsoft, Oracle, and CoreWeave.
In June, Reuters cited a source reporting that the deal with Google, finalized in May after months of negotiations, was completed.
The agreement highlights the way in which the massive demand for computing resources to train and deploy AI models is changing the competitive dynamics of the industry. It also represents OpenAI’s latest effort to diversify its computing sources beyond its primary supporter, Microsoft, including its well-known Stargate data center project.
