Travelers file lawsuits against Delta and United for offering window seats that lack windows

On Tuesday, passengers filed lawsuits against Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, alleging that they paid extra for “window” seats only to find out that these seats were next to a blank wall.

Class action lawsuits targeting United were lodged in federal court in San Francisco, while those against Delta were filed in Brooklyn, New York. These lawsuits seek millions of dollars in damages for over 1 million passengers on each airline.

According to the lawsuits, certain Boeing 737, Boeing 757, and Airbus A321 aircraft have seats that would typically align with windows, but these windows are absent because of the positioning of air conditioning ducts, electrical conduits, or other components.

“If the plaintiffs and class members had known that the seats they were purchasing did not have windows, they would not have chosen them, much less paid extra for them,” the lawsuit against United said. The lawsuit against Delta contained similar language.
