Toyota, Tesla, and GM want that the US prolong the NAFTA free trade pact

The Trump administration has been pushed by major automakers, such as General Motors, Tesla, Toyota, and Ford, to prolong the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which they believe is essential for American automobile manufacturing.
Prior to the official review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in 2026, the automakers made these remarks in documents submitted to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, but they all recommended modifications.
A group representing Detroit’s three automakers said the USMCA “enables automakers operating in the United States to compete globally through regional integration, generating efficiency gains” and representing “tens of billions of dollars in annual savings.”
