Amazon plans to drastically cut back on the quantity of parcels it ships through the USPS

The Wall Street Journal reports that Amazon intends to drastically cut back on the number of items it distributes through the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) as its agreement with the faltering government organization expires this autumn.
According to the Journal, Amazon wants to reduce the quantity of packages it sends through the U.S. Postal Service by two-thirds. The e-commerce behemoth disclosed the plan to the Postal Service during the last-mile delivery service bidding process. Which is the last leg of deliveries that the Postal Service handles.
Amazon accounted for almost 15% of the items that the Postal Service delivered in the United States last year.
The Postal Service makes $6 billion a year from its deal with Amazon, which expires in October.
The e-commerce behemoth may look for alternative courier services for last-mile deliveries. Increase its fleet, or develop its own delivery network if the Postal Service rejects Amazon’s bid for this service.
