Jeff Bezos is among the investors who purchase shares in Liverpool in a multimillion-dollar venture

A consortium of investors that includes Jeff Bezos took a minority stake in Liverpool FC on Friday. A team statement said, marking Bezos’ first investment in a sports franchise.
Te group that includes Bezos reached an agreement with Fenway Sports Group to acquire approximately 30% of the soccer club, according to various reports.
Consortium has the participation of billionaires such as Bezos, Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and the Mittal family. The latter made its fortune through ArcelorMittal, the largest steel company in the world.
Fenway Sports Group will retain majority ownership and operational control of Liverpool FC. Although CNBC reported that under the deal, the consortium will have the opportunity to become a majority shareholder within the next year.
The operation values Liverpool FC at around $7.4 billion, reported The Guardian, a newspaper that noted that the agreement gives the consortium options to acquire a larger stake if Fenway Sports Group decides to sell.
Fenway Sports Group acquired Liverpool FC in 2010 for $406 million. Saving the team from the brink of collapse while facing a huge gross debt load under its previous American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The team had an inconsistent and at times turbulent performance for much of the 2010s, until former manager Jürgen Klopp led the franchise to its first Premier League title of the modern era in 2019. Since then, the team has remained a powerhouse in English football, claiming another Premier League title in the 2024-2025 season.
