By the end of 2026, Nestlé plans to remove artificial coloring from all of its products

According to a senior official who spoke to Reuters on Tuesday, Nestlé intends to remove artificial coloring from all of its products worldwide by the end of 2026, making it the first significant food firm to do so.

The previously unknown target comes as food producers face increased pressure to deliver healthier products. Despite the rapid rise of GLP-1-based weight-loss medicines and greater public scrutiny of food ingredients.

It expands Nestlé’s efforts outside of the US, where it has previously eliminated artificial colors from its line of products.

“By the end of the year, Nestlé’s global portfolio will be free of artificial colors,” Stefan Palzer, Nestlé’s chief technology officer, told Reuters in an exclusive interview at the company’s Swiss headquarters in Vevey.

Food manufacturers and retailers have increasingly opted to eliminate ingredients such as FD&C synthetic dyes and sweeteners, including corn syrup, from their products.

Nestlé has concentrated more on items targeted at consumers who are worried about processed meals. Weight in light of investor concerns that packaged food businesses may lose market share as people choose healthier diets.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced last April that the agency plans to remove ingredients, including artificial food colorings, due to worries about possible connections to diseases like diabetes, obesity, and ADHD. However, many scientists argue that further research is necessary.
