KFC declares that its Puerto Rican locations would be closing

After severing ties with the local franchise’s owner, Encanto outlets, KFC announced on Monday that its outlets «are closing» in Puerto Rico.
In a social media post, KFC Puerto Rico bemoaned, «Unfortunately, Encanto cannot continue operating in a way that satisfies our quality standards.»
The restaurant chain expressed gratitude to its patrons for «their dedication» and expressed interest in «continuing to serve them.»
In spite of the announcement, the firm said it is searching for a new franchise partner «that allows us to reopen our locations and welcome them back to enjoy KFC with their friends and family.»
Up until July 2026, Encanto Restaurants accrued over 70 legal records, primarily pertaining to evictions and money collections, with a concentration of cases throughout that year, according to data gathered by the Puerto Rico Bulletin.
