The global trend of nearshoring and the shift to electric vehicles provide several prospects for Mexico, according to Arturo Juarez, a minister of economy spokesperson.

The employee said that Mexico is now the world’s leading producer of car parts, but that the value of vehicle exports as a percentage of manufacturers’ revenue has already exceeded 35 percent.

The official stated that the Ministry of Economy will collaborate closely with the producing sectors to tackle the TMEC issue in light of the Government’s efforts to strengthen the nation.

“The review of the TMEC in 2026 is undoubtedly one of the priority issues for this administration (…) We know that the issue will not be easy, the negotiation will take place in a complex context, with protectionism increasingly present and with an EU-China trade war,” he said.
