Trump claims he has a group of wealthy individuals to buy TikTok

In an interview with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has found a buyer for the TikTok app, which allows users to create short videos. He said the buyer is a group of «very wealthy people,» whose identity he will disclose in roughly two weeks.

During an interview on Fox News’ «Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo,» Trump made these claims. He claimed that in order to proceed, the agreement he is drafting will probably need China’s consent, and he projected that Chinese President Xi Jinping will probably provide his permission.

The deadline for China-based ByteDance to sell TikTok’s U.S. assets was extended by the U.S. president earlier this month until September 17. This is in spite of a statute that requires the sale or shutdown of the company if substantial progress is not achieved.
