Following the success of «F1: The Movie,» Apple is requesting the US broadcasting rights for Formula 1

According to persons familiar with the situation, the Financial Times said Wednesday that Apple is in negotiations to purchase the U.S. broadcast rights to Formula 1 (F1) racing when the sale opens up next year.

The announcement follows the success of «F1: The Movie,» which as of Wednesday had made over $300 million globally, according to IMDb’s Box Office Mojo.

Through the 2025 season, ESPN, owned by Walt Disney, will have the only right to broadcast Formula One in the United States. However, sources told Reuters in February that ESPN’s exclusivity term to negotiate a new F1 contract had ended, allowing for the entry of new bidders.
