Amid growing competition from its AI counterparts, Alphabet will aim to provide reassurance to investors

Confronted with unparalleled dangers from AI competitors, Alphabet will likely be eager to allay investors’ concerns by demonstrating that its own investments in the technology are bolstering its hold on the search and advertising sectors.

Competitors of Google’s parent company, including AI startups like OpenAI and Perplexity, have drawn tens of millions of users to their platforms. While a U.S. court weighs options for breaking up the tech giant, including possibly forcing Chrome’s sale, they are trying to challenge Chrome’s dominance with their own browsers.

In order to uphold its supremacy, Alphabet introduced various tools like AI Overviews, which presents AI-generated summaries alongside conventional links that drew in 1.5 billion users monthly, and increased the availability of Gemini models for business users.

AI’s incorporation into Google search is crucial for its advertising attractiveness, as it allows advertisers to conduct more efficient campaigns and achieve a higher ROI.

Alphabet, set to disclose its second-quarter results on Wednesday, has also achieved a significant win by securing rival OpenAI as a customer for its cloud business.
