Vogue appoints Chloe Malle as Anna Wintour’s successor in the role of US editorial director

The magazine announced on Tuesday that Chloe Malle has been appointed as the new head of editorial content at Vogue USA, succeeding Anna Wintour, who is departing from her role after almost 40 years.

At Vogue, where she worked for over ten years, Malle (39) held the position of editor at Vogue.com and co-host of “The Run-Through” podcast.

Chloe, daughter of actress Candice Bergen and filmmaker Louis Malle, joined the magazine as a full-time employee in 2011 after working at the New York Observer and doing freelance work. She managed prominent stories, such as a photoshoot for Naomi Biden’s wedding and an interview with Lauren Sanchez.

Her exit signifies an uncommon leadership transition in a role she has shaped for almost four decades, a time characterized by both esteem and debate. Wintour announced in June that she would pursue a new leadership role within American Vogue’s editorial team.
