Nokia intends to spend $4 billion in the US on artificial intelligence

In order to promote AI-powered network connectivity, the Finnish corporation Nokia announced plans to invest $4 billion in the US, concentrating on R&D and manufacturing.
According to the maker of telecom equipment, R&D will receive $3.5 billion of the investment. Additionally, $500 million would be used for capital expenditures and manufacturing in states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Texas.
On Wednesday, Nokia, which owns Bell Laboratories in New Jersey and runs more than a dozen locations across North America, unveiled a new plan to streamline operations with a focus on artificial intelligence.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb said in early October that Nokia was among the topics discussed with US President Donald Trump at a meeting at the White House.
Friday’s news follows a July profit warning tied to tariffs and a weaker currency, as some non-US corporations transfer manufacturing there to reduce trade concerns.
Since there isn’t a significant indigenous manufacturer of telecom equipment in the US, Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung are the top choices.
