OpenAI seeks to increase global use of AI in everyday life

OpenAI is stepping up its efforts to convince global governments to build more data centers and encourage greater use of artificial intelligence in areas such as education, health, and disaster preparedness.

The initiative, called OpenAI for Countries, will expand the reach of its products and help bridge the gap between countries with broad access to AI technology and nations that do not yet have the capacity, the company said.

OpenAI also hopes to encourage deeper use of its tools, adding that AI systems are capable of performing more complex tasks than many believe.

According to a research the corporation published with Reuters, «Most countries are still operating well below what current AI systems allow.»

The global project was introduced by OpenAI last year, and in December, George Osborne, a former British finance minister, was named project manager. This week in Davos, Osborne and Chris Lehane, OpenAI’s head of global affairs, will introduce the project to government representatives.

The program is a component of a larger plan that has positioned OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, at the vanguard of the current AI revolution.
