According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon is in negotiations with OpenAI to invest $50 billion in the AI startup, potentially valued at much to $830 billion.

According to the Journal, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy are in talks. The $50 billion investment might make Amazon the largest contributor to OpenAI’s current funding round.

Almost a year has passed since OpenAI raised $40 billion at a $300 billion valuation in its most recent fundraising round, a Series F spearheaded by SoftBank.

Following a $22.5 billion investment SoftBank made in December, outside of the Series F, the Journal reported on Wednesday that SoftBank may invest an extra $30 billion in OpenAI as part of the current capital round.

Amazon has collaborated with OpenAI before, securing a $38 billion cloud computing deal with the business in November.
