Apple has raised the base price of the MacBook and iPhone to $599

The magic entry price for Apple seems to be $599, the price at which both the MacBook Neo laptop and the iPhone 17e phone are debuting, available March 11.
The new laptop, which has a 13-inch screen and weighs just 1.2 kg. Historically low for the firm and even stunned analysts by lowering the cost of its entry-level model by about 50%. For years, the cheapest option to enter the Mac line was with a $999 laptop.
The «affordable» iPhone 17e costs the same as the model from the previous year.
In light of growing supply chain expenses and memory chip shortages. This approach is a calculated attempt to maintain its market dominance and draw in customers.
Although the iPhone 17e retains many of the features of its predecessor, Apple has incorporated the new A19 chip. Making it the most cost-effective handset compatible with the company’s AI ecosystem and guaranteeing software update support for up to seven years.
The 17e’s physical changes include a more durable screen glass, MagSafe technology for magnetic peripherals, and a minimum storage capacity of 256 GB. Which is double that of the model from the previous year.
It will be moved to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max, whose production costs could soar by 25% this autumn, according to analysts at Bernstein Research.
