Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its first restaurant in Mexico, in the state of Nuevo León, the operator Alsea announced.

Alsea, whose portfolio includes Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks and Burger King in Europe and Latin America, operates more than 4,830 stores and will be the development and expansion partner of the California-based chain.

The inaugural restaurant will open its doors on Thursday in Nuevo León.

“The opening of this first restaurant represents the beginning of Chipotle’s growth strategy in Mexico,” Alsea stated in a statement.

The multinational also noted that the Mexican market has “high potential for developing innovative concepts within the fast-food restaurant segment.”

Chipotle currently has more than 4,100 locations worldwide, with menus that include burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads.

Alsea operates in Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, France, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Uruguay.
