MercadoLibre issues an international bond worth $1 billion

The massive Argentine digital financial services and e-commerce company MercadoLibre issued $1 billion in corporate debt bonds on the global market this Wednesday.

In a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), MercadoLibre issued $1 billion worth of bonds denominated in U.S. dollars that matured in 2036.

MercadoLibre, which was established in Argentina in 1999, reported a $466 million net profit for the second quarter of this year, a 10.8% decrease from the same period last year.

Listed on the U.S. Nasdaq index, which is home to the top technological companies in the world, the multinational has operations in 18 Latin American nations.

With Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina as its main markets, the corporation reported a net profit of $1.997 billion last year, a 4.5% increase over 2024 figures.
