Mexico anticipates a record-breaking mobilization of almost 9 million containers in 2023
The Ministry of the Navy (Semar) projected that Mexican ports will have record numbers in 2023, mobilizing more than 9 million containers.
«In 2022, more than 8 million containers were mobilized, a record figure in the entire history of the national port system. Everything indicates that this year we are going to beat our own record,» the Semar’s general coordinator for ports and merchant marine, Ana Laura López Bautista
She continued by saying that, as of this writing, about 5 million 500 thousand containers had been handled, an increase of more than 3 percent from the same period last year.
APM Terminals in Lázaro Cárdenas is expanding by one million containers, and it is not the only one. «If last year we moved more than 8 million (containers), and APM Terminals is going to increase by one million, and it is not the only one,» the company said.
