The current wars lead Mexico to be the largest supplier of cucumbers to the United States

According to the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), Mexican manufacturers raised their exports of gherkin and cucumber to the US, Canada, and other countries by 6.66 percent between January and May 2026.

In the first five months of this year, producers sold more than $378,676,000 worth of gherkins and cucumbers to the U.S. and Canadian markets. Up from $355,029,000 in the same period previous year.

According to a researcher from CETYS University’s Tijuana Campus, Ensenada and San Quintín have established themselves as global leaders in the production and export of high-value vegetables. Especially Persian and Italian cucumbers, which are highly sought after by American consumers.
