Whole Foods has recalled jalapeño products because they may contain salmonella

Due to possible salmonella contamination, Whole items announced that it will recall some produce and prepared items that contain jalapeños and are supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that no illnesses have been linked to these items to date.

In cooperation with state and local authorities, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are looking into a salmonella outbreak. That has affected 345 people in 27 states and led to 36 hospital admissions.

The most likely cause of the outbreak, according to health officials, is a manufacturer in Sinaloa, Mexico that provides jalapeños to Coast Citrus Distributors.

Some sauces, guacamole, pico de gallo, and other prepared meals are among the items that Whole meals has recalled.

Due to the possible risk of Salmonella contamination, Taylor Farms, a company also connected to another fresh produce outbreak, announced on Monday. That it was recalling prepared foods containing jalapeños, including salsas and guacamole, from retailers like Walmart and Whole Foods in multiple states.

Customers, who had already started avoiding some fresh fruit after Taylor Farms withdrew iceberg lettuce connected to a cyclosporiasis outbreak.
