Over $2 billion will be invested by Prime Video in Latin America, with Mexico being a major market

This Thursday, Prime Video said that it will invest over $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030 to support local content acquisition, original productions, and sports rights in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia.

The declaration was made at the Prime Video conference in Mexico City. Using the number of titles produced in 2026 as a benchmark, the platform said it would quadruple the amount of local original productions by 2030.

More than 25 new titles, including fiction series, movies, non-scripted works, and reality formats, will be presented in its five primary markets by 2027 as part of the pledge. A new sports rights arrangement and sports content, especially basketball and soccer, were added to this service.

As one of the five territories where Prime Video will greatly expand its local original content, Mexico will play a big role in this plan. The business also included «El Juicio,» a true-story-inspired Mexican thriller starring Eugenio Derbez and Pedro Alonso, as one of its forthcoming releases. It will be available on the platform on September 11, 2026.
