According to reports, Netflix has been sued over the loss of a Nicolas Cage movie
A complaint filed by a film producer against Netflix about the loss of a World War II drama starring Nicolas Cage. That was handed to the streaming service for release and distribution is being looked into by Los Angeles police.
According to the Los Angeles Times on Friday, a law firm that represents producer Simon Afram filed a complaint with the Hollywood police department. Alleging that Netflix misplaced the hard drive that contained the movie.
Last July, Afram sued the entertainment behemoth in a federal court in California, demanding at least $105 million in damages for the loss of the copy. «Fortitude,» was brought to the business in the middle of June so that it could be seen and bought. The complaint states that a few days later, Netflix sent the plaintiffs an email informing them that «a significant number» of hard drives, containing the movie, had been stolen from its Los Angeles offices.
The plaintiff claimed that the business withheld information on whether it sought help from any security agency, to retrieve the material or reported the occurrence to the police.
Afram stated that he spent more than $45 million on the project, which took seven years to complete and was currently being sold to distributors.
A representative for Netflix refuted the idea that the firm would bear the financial risk of a movie «distributed without standard industry security measures.»
