Aeroméxico and Delta enhance their connectivity from Mexico City to 27 locations in the U.S.

Aeroméxico and Delta Air Lines revealed on Monday three new direct routes. From Mexico City to Orange County, Fort Lauderdale, and Portland, set to start in January 2027. Expanding their alliance’s network from the Mexican capital to 27 destinations in the US.
The flights, run by Aeroméxico, will operate daily and will utilize Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes that can accommodate 166 passengers: 16 in Premier Class, 18 in AM Plus, and 132 in the Economy Cabin.
The link to Orange County, California, will start on January 11; Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will commence on January 14, and Portland, Oregon. Will begin on January 21 from Mexico, with a return a day later.
Aeroméxico confirmed it will be the sole airline offering direct flights between Mexico City and these three destinations. Included in the Joint Collaboration Agreement it has with Delta for the market connecting Mexico and the United States.
“We are excited to introduce three new routes to the United States. An incredibly dynamic, strategic, and significant market for Mexico’s international connectivity,” stated Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeroméxico.
The manager asserted that the connections will enhance tourism choices and create opportunities for business and commercial exchanges.
DOT removes restrictions
Orange County will offer access to Southern California’s beaches and the theme parks in Anaheim; Fort Lauderdale will enhance access to South Florida and Port Everglades, while Portland will broaden connections to the Pacific Northwest.
This declaration comes after a U.S. federal court ruling in August that overturned a Department of Transportation (DOT) directive. One that aimed to withdraw the endorsement and antitrust immunity given to the Aeroméxico-Delta partnership—thus permitting the alliance to continue operating.
The Joint Cooperation Agreement, operational since May 2017, enables the airlines to collaborate on elements like pricing, timetables, and networks across the border market with antitrust immunity.
Additionally, both firms have sustained a partnership for more than twenty years as participants in SkyTeam.
On October 19, the regulatory landscape changed again as the DOT removed restrictions that had been put in place in 2015. Regarding certain flight schedules and service proposals by Mexican airlines flying between Mexico and the United States.
Aeroméxico has announced an expansion for 2027 that includes three new routes: connections from Mexico City to Milan, Nassau, and Montego Bay, along with a flight from Guadalajara to Paris.
