Nvidia regains its position as the most valuable corporation in the world

Nvidia overtook Apple as the most valuable corporation in the world on Tuesday. Apple had overtaken Nvidia on Friday, but it regained the title soon after as its price plummeted due to a poor gross margin outlook. Despite the fact that its fourth-quarter performance significantly above projections.

At 11:55 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, Nvidia’s stock increased by roughly 3%, reaching a market valuation of $5.02 trillion. This action is a component of the semiconductor industry’s larger rebound after multiple consecutive selling sessions.

At the end of trading on Friday, Apple—the first American company to reach market capitalizations of $1 trillion, $2 trillion, and $3 trillion—overtook Nvidia to take the top spot. However, on Tuesday, its market capitalization dropped 2% to $4.83 trillion.

In October, Nvidia became the first firm to be valued at $5 trillion. Analysts forecast early last month that it would hit $6 trillion in the upcoming weeks. But the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries—including Nvidia, which lost around 835,000 million in market capitalization in October—proved to be unstable.

In September, Nvidia announced the largest expansion of a share repurchase authorization in corporate history. Adding $150,000 million to its repurchase program and thus surpassing the $110,000 million that Apple authorized in 2024.
