Serena Williams has acquired a portion of Toronto’s new WNBA franchise

Serena Williams, an American tennis player, said Monday that she had purchased a stake in the Toronto Tempo, a WNBA women’s professional basketball league team that will begin play in 2026.

In a statement released by the WNBA, Williams, 43, emphasized the financial component of the arrangement, stating that women’s sports are an excellent investment opportunity.

“This moment is not just about basketball. It’s about showing the true value and potential of female athletes. I’ve always said that women’s sports is an incredible investment opportunity,” stated the tennis legend, who has won 23 major titles and is regarded as one of the best of all time.
