Tesla guarantees that the Model YL ‘will be here soon’
Tesla, the electric car company owned by Elon Musk, announced on the Chinese social network Weibo that the Model YL “will arrive soon,” following previous plans to launch the new model in the country.
With a longer wheelbase, the Model YL is a six-seater variant of the successful Model Y. In its post, the company also shared a video of the new model. The range’s overhaul is a reaction to the increasing competition, which includes Xiaomi’s newly introduced YU7.
In July, Tesla noted an 8.4% decline in sales of its electric vehicles produced in China, as local rivals persist in providing cheaper alternatives during a price war affecting manufacturers, suppliers, and dealers alike.
Moreover, a rear-wheel-drive Model 3 with an extended range is set to enter the Chinese market, as per information released in July on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry.
