Following the release of its financial report, BYD told investors during a conference call that it is «very confident» in reaching its international sales target of 1.5 million vehicles by 2026, or possibly beyond it.

According to two persons with direct knowledge of the conference call, the Chinese electric vehicle behemoth said that foreign markets might account for around half of its sales.

In January, BYD announced that it will aim to export 1.3 million cars this year instead of the 1.6 million that its management had reported to Citi in November.

Last year, the proportion of overseas sales to total sales more than doubled to 22.7%, and in January and February, it doubled once more to 50%.

BYD revealed on Friday that their 2025 profitability had declined more than anticipated.

According to one of the insiders, the corporation said that it anticipates starting mass production at its factories in Europe and Indonesia in March or April of this year.
