Ignacio Deschamps’ presidency of the Banamex board comes to an end

The Banamex financial group announced that Ignacio Deschamps has concluded his term as chairman of the bank’s board of directors.
«I leave with a sense of a mission accomplished. I am very excited to see Banamex growing with ambitions exceeding the market and successfully executing its business and technological modernization plan (…), I am convinced that I could not leave the chairmanship of the board in better hands than Fernando Chico Pardo, and I wish them every success,» he said, according to a statement.
On February 15, 2024, Deschamps was elected to the boards of directors of the bank and the financial group. On December 1 of that same year, after Banamex and Citi Mexico’s split was finalized, he became the presidency of both organizations.
The lender observed that Deschamps continued to serve as head of the banking institution’s board of directors, but Fernando Chico Pardo became the largest shareholder and took over as chairman of the financial group on December 15, 2025.
According to Banamex, Deschamps’ almost 40 years of experience in the Mexican banking industry helped the business establish a competent board of directors and corporate governance.
