Next year, Hyundai and Kia will use Tesla’s EV charging technology

As in the fourth quarter of 2024 in the United States, Hyundai Motor and Kia will start using Tesla‘s electric vehicle charging system, it was announced on Thursday.

Hyundai and Kia have joined automakers like Ford and General Motors in incorporating Tesla’s North American Charging Standard charging connections into their electric cars, enabling users to utilize any Tesla charging station. The charging technology has been making progress lately toward creating a common charging standard among manufacturers of electric vehicles.

The South Korean automakers said that starting in 2024, all new electric vehicles would be manufactured with Tesla’s NACS technology, giving them access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers located throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Additionally, starting in the first quarter of 2025, owners of existing Hyundai and Kia electric vehicle models will be able to use adapters to access Tesla Superchargers.

According to GM CEO Mary Barra, the carmaker anticipates using the NACS technology to save up to $400 million.
