Banorte Reports 8% Growth in Its Loan Portfolio in 2Q2026

Grupo Financiero Banorte (GFNorte) reported that at the end of the second quarter of 2026, its outstanding loan portfolio reached 1,273,193 million pesos. An 8 percent year-over-year increase, according to a press release issued by the institution.
According to the report, all of the group’s loan portfolios posted year-over-year growth. Consumer loans rose 10 percent, Commercial loans 8 percent, Government loans 7 percent, and Corporate loans 2 percent.
According to information from Banorte, the portfolio’s performance was driven primarily by the Consumer segment, whose balance reached 554,118 million pesos.
Within that portfolio, auto loans grew 26 percent year-over-year, payroll loans 14 percent, credit cards 12 percent, and mortgage loans 5 percent.
The institution added that SME loans grew 7 percent compared to the same period last year.
The press release notes that traditional deposits, which include demand and time deposits, totaled 1,199,068 million pesos, a 6 percent increase compared to 2Q25. Demand deposits grew by 5 percent, and time deposits by 9 percent.
Banorte also reported a non-performing loan ratio of 1.5 percent, net income of 15,550 million pesos, and earnings per share of 5.53 pesos. ROE for the quarter stood at 25.7 percent and ROA at 2.3 percent, according to figures provided by the institution itself.
Carlos Hank González, chairman of the Board of Directors of GFNorte, stated in the press release that the growth of the loan portfolio reflects the group’s ability to serve families and businesses with increasingly innovative solutions.
