Tesla is recalling 20,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles whose low-beam headlights fail to meet federal brightness standards. This is the latest in a series of safety issues affecting the manufacturer, which have included malfunctions in rearview cameras, brake rotors, battery packs, and warning lights.

Tesla issued a safety recall for Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y (2020–2023) vehicles. Because their low-beam headlights may exceed the maximum light intensity allowed by federal regulations.

According to the recall report, the excessive brightness of the headlights may reduce visibility for both the driver and oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of an accident.

Tesla states that it does not plan to notify owners of the issue until mid-September, as it is still determining how to resolve it.

The company says the solution “is currently in development.”
