In an effort to restore the epidemic highs of the app, Zoom’s founder turns to AI

Eric Yuan, the founder and CEO of Zoom, has a message for businesses that are hesitant to use Zoom for more than just video meetings: «Have an open mind.»
Yuan is undoubtedly. After years of interacting with consumers primarily online through his own product, he is now back to meeting them in person while on the road. According to Yuan, many events are no longer virtual.
Zoom, a software program that prevented the initial 2020 pandemic by turning Yuan into the face of remote work (and education) in the face of rising stock prices and privacy concerns, must do the same thing as it attempts to navigate a new era.
Zoom was supposed to be a choice for online events and activities, but the software solutions that were released in the months after its enormous flood of users have not functioned as well as anticipated. Zoom shares have plateaued during the past year at about $70, or a market cap of just over $20 billion, down from an all-time high of $568 in October, giving it a market cap of roughly $160 billion.
Now that Zoom is moving in a new direction, Yuan wants to make it a «platform for communication and collaboration.»
A generative whiteboard, one of the latest AI-powered features, enables teams to automatically finish and arrange a project visually from such a discussion. In the future, it intends to provide its AI Companion context capabilities so that it can remember a user’s previous requests and present pertinent data from any previous meetings, chat logs, or work in other connected applications.
Despite being a year behind the S&P 500 index and its tech business competitors, whose stocks have risen closer to Covid highs, how does Zoom’s creator maintain motivation and rally the troops? According to Yuan, Zoom is embracing a new season much like his beloved Golden State Warriors.
«During Covid, we ruled the world, and now we are starting afresh to make Zoom better. When we eventually retire, we want to look back with pride,» he added.
