In June, Tesla’s sales in the UK increased compared to the previous year

After the U.S. automaker started delivering its revised Model Y last month, data released Friday shows that Tesla’s new car sales in Britain increased year-over-year in June amidst a broad resurgence in the electric vehicle industry.
According to a survey by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), demand for battery electric vehicles drove a 6.7% increase in new car registrations in Britain in June compared to the same month last year, reaching 191,316 units.
Although sales remained below pre-Covid levels, it was the best June since 2019. Demand for battery electric cars rose 39% to 47,354 units, with one in four buyers opting for electrics, according to the SMMT.
“However, that EV growth continues to be driven by significant industry support, with manufacturers using all channels and unsustainable discounts to drive activity; however, it remains below mandated levels,” SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said in the report.
