Ticketmaster is fined five million pesos by Profeco for the BTS ticket dispute

Ticketmaster faces a fine of almost 5 million pesos (about $277,800) from the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco). This for allegedly breaking the law when selling tickets for concerts by the country’s most popular K-pop group, BTS. The agency made the announcement on Monday.
At a press conference, Profeco head Iván Escalante clarified that the ticket seller has ten business days to present proof and reply to the procedures «for violation of the law.» Which were notified on January 28, 2026.
Additionally, according to Escalante, Profeco warned three resale platforms—Viagogo, TopHop, and Hello Ticket—located in the US, Switzerland, and Spain, respectively. To abide by national laws and refrain from unfair consumer activities.
Nearly 94% of those who were interested were left out due to the enormous demand for BTS concerts in Mexico City; according to Ticketmaster, 2.1 million users attempted to get tickets, but only 136,400 were available—6.4% of the demand.
The ticket office «categorically» condemned illicit resales, pointing out that they hurt fans. Skew fair ticket distribution, and put the public’s finances and security at danger.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum wrote to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung requesting that BTS provide additional concert dates in Mexico in response to the extraordinary demand.
